This is my Maternal Great Grandmother:

My great grandmother was born Anna Matilda Margarite Quella in Liege, Belgium. Her family immigrated to the United States (via Canada) when she was about 7 years old; eventually settling in West Virginia.

Her parents were determined to "blend in" as Americans & quicly learned the English language, forbidding the use of their Native German and French. In doing so, my Grandmother forgot the languages she used to know as a child.

My grandmother recalled her young childhood days in Belgium and would tell us stories of various events; my favorites were her recollections of Christmastime! She remembered "Father Christmas" with his bag of treats walking the cobblestone streets of Liege; she remembered when receiving a simple orange in her stocking as a TREAT to be Treasured!!!

She met and fell in love with Milton Hobbs; they married and had twin sons and one daughter.

Matilda was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star (OES) coinciding with her husband's membership with the FreeMasons. She was a very Devoted Christian who dearly loved the Lord.

She was a Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother and Devoted Wife!! She Loved to cook & bake and knew how to make the best-tasting meals without ever using a recipe. Of course, her food was Delicious!! Our Favorite meal that we ALWAYS requested of her was her French Pancakes (or crepes)!!! Oh, they were the BEST I Have EVER eaten or will EVER eat again!! I miss her cooking!!

Granny was one of the Sweetest, Kindest, and most Gentle Ladies I have ever known. I never saw her angry, nor did I ever hear her raise her voice...EVER!!!

Granny, I Miss You SO Much and I LOVE YOU!!

Until We Meet Again...
