Sally Dorton Deed James Woods State of Kentucky Clay County
This indenture made and entered into by and between Sally Dorton formerly the wife of Rubin Woods and known as Sallie Woods of the County and State aforesaid, of the first part and James Woods of the County and State aforesaid of the second part.
Witnesseth that in consideration that the party of the second part has for the last six or seven years furnished the party of the first part with clothing and provisions and lodging and for the further consideration that the said James Woods son of the party of the first part agrees to still provide maintenance and support the party of the first part during her natural life, the party of the second part binds himself to see her decently cared for and in the further consideration that the party of the first part is old and unable to make the suitable provisions and cannot get about well to attend to her business and in the further consideration that the party of the first part heretofore made a similar contract with her son Lilburn Woods for her support and maintenance and the said Lilburn Woods failing and refusing for a number of years to support and maintain the party of the first part as the said Lilburn Woods agreed to and in consideration that she was thrown on her son James Woods (the party of the second part) to support and provide for her now in consideration of the matters and facts before mentioned and in the consideration of her love and affection in addition there to the party of the first part doth grant bargain sell and convey unto the said party of the second part all her right title and interest legal and equitable in & to her sister Lencretia Taylor's estate all her right title and interest in and to her father Moses Dorton or any which might descend to her from her mother Dycey Dorton wife of Moses Dorton.
Whatsoever those interests may be whether in real personal or mixed which may from any source be coming to her. Revoking and making void all contracts heretofore made with Lilburn Woods or any other persons, hereby convening all of the aforesaid to the said James Woods for his sole use and benefit intending to make the title simple to said party of the second part and at the same time to give and cloth him with full favorer to collect receive receipts & possess in his own name all of the above enumerated estate. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 22nd day of June 1865.

I GW Price Clerk of the County Court for the County aforesaid Certify that the foregoing deed from Sallie Dorton to James Woods together with the 50 U.S. revenue stamp thereto attached was this day produced to James G. Patten Deputy Clerk for G.W. Price and the same was in due form of law acknowledged by the said Sallie Dorton to be her act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and ordered to record where upon the said deed together with the forgoing certificate hath been duly recorded given under my hand as Clerk aforsaid this 24th day of June 1865.
