Dorothy E. Bartram, 85, of Lucas, died Friday, January 11, 2008, at her residence following an extended illness. She went home to be with her Lord with many of her children and grandchildren lovingly at her side. Born November 4, 1922, in Worthington, KY, she was the daughter of Jay Frank and Gypsie Bell (Brown) Bartram. Dorothy lived in Fort Gay, WV with her husband, Archie, for many years before moving to Mansfield in 1950. In 1960, Dorothy and Archie moved to the Lucas area where she remained until her death. Dorothy had worked as a nurse at Rosemont Nursing Home and later at People's Hospital showing the love of the Lord to all who were under her care. Although quilting was her hobby, homemaking was her gift. Her desire was to give of herself to make her home a place of hospitality to all of those who entered in. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Dorothy's other passion was going to church and worshipping her Lord. She was involved in a number of area churches and was a charter member of Lighthouse Chapel in Lucas since 1968.
Surviving are three sons, Darell (Pat) Bartram of Loudonville, Archie L. Bartram of Bartow, FL and Steven D. Bartram of Bonaire, GA; five daughters, Evelyn Gale (James) Caldwell of Centerville, GA, Brenda L. Ramey, Georgia M. (Ron) Fife, Marsha L. (Ralph) Garnsey and Beverly S. (Steve) Grover all of Lucas; and one sister, Georgia O'Brien. Additionally, she is survived by 19 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie; her parents; a brother, Frank Bartram; and a sister, Nancy Johnson.
Dorothy was a devoted wife of 68 years to her beloved husband, Archie and was an affectionate mother and grandmother to her family. We will miss her warm embraces and gentle smile.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2008, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Lighthouse Chapel conducted by her son-in-law, Steve Grover and assisted by Pastor Rhett Butler of Lighthouse Chapel.
