widow of J. Edgar Howard formerly of 311 So. Hanover Ave., died on Jan. 2, 2012 with her family beside her. Monu was a beautiful and amazing centenarian known as Miss Hollywood by the loving caregivers who cared for her at Sayre Christian Village. She was born in Lexington to the late Etta Crossfield and William Walker Bowman. She was the sister of the late Leonard, Ernest, and Virginia Bowman; step-mother of the late Harold and David Howard; and foster mother of the late Barbara Anne Kimbrell.
As the artistic designer of beautiful women's clothing she helped her husband, Ed, in the family business called Howard's Custom Tailoring in Chevy Chase which existed for over 40 years. She leaves her daughter, Rose Helen (Billy) Guy; grandchildren, Karrol (David) Combs, Kimberly McIntosh, and Billy (Donna) Guy, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Heather (Judd) Borders, Lara (Scott) Weddle, Kelli Combs (Jordan) Ramey, Billy "Will" (Rachel) Guy, Michael (Sabrina) Guy, Kyle Combs, and Kimberly Guy; great-great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Guy, Amber Guy, Wyatt Weddle, Bennett Borders and Allison Guy; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral, Fri., 1:30 PM, Milward-Broadway with burial following at Lexington Cemetery. Casket bearers will be grandchildren, nephews, and Bill Woodward. Visitation, Thurs., 5-8 PM. Memorials may be made to Sayre Christian Village or the Lexington Humane Society. Special thanks to the caregivers at Sayre Christian Village who gave such genuine loving care.
