Helen Irene Fillmore, 82, of Burlington died Sunday, Oct 19, 2008, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born June 17, 1926 in Brighton, she was the daughter of Laton & Gladys Grant Schooley. On June 9, 1946, she married Robert W. Fillmore in Brighton. He died Nov. 29, 2006.
Mrs. Fillmore taught in rural schools in Washington County. She was a homemaker. She graduated from Brighton High School. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples) where she was Elder Emeritus. She was Christian Women Felloship past president and kitchen director for 25 years. She was past president and longtime secretary of Eagles Aerie 150 Auxiliary and named to the Iowa Eagles Auxiliary hall of Fame in 2002. She was past chief of Pythian Sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Kevin Fillmore of Plainfield, Ind., Kirk Fillmore of Mediapolis and Kent Fillmore of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Hendriks of Bowden, Alberta, Canada; and one brother, Stanley Schooley of Brighton.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
