Mr. Trader first joined Company L, of the 2nd Missouri Infantry Regiment on 17 June, 1898 at Nevada, Missouri. He was honorably mustered out on March 2, 1899 at Camp Churchman, Albany, Georgia.
In June of 1916 he joined Company L & M, of the 1st Oklahoma Infantry National Guard Regiment and served honorably until discharge in October of 1916, at the rank of Private 1st Class.
After his discharge he volunteered for the Central Infantry Officer Training School, where upon graduation, he was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant and promptly sent to France with the 142nd Infantry Regiment, of the 36th Division. He was honorably discharged in July of 1919.
Mr. Trader was awarded the Spanish War Service Medal, the Mexican Border Service Medal and the World War I Victory Medal with Meuse-Argonne and Defensive Sector battle clasps.
