Verona Eurtha "Granny" Choat, 90, of Cherokee, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004. Mrs. Choat was a native of Colbert County and a member of Cherokee Church of Christ. Granny always loved attending church services, her family, her friends and her flowers.
Visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. Sunday at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee, with the service to follow in the chapel. Burial will be at Mynot Cemetery. Wayne Scott and Jason Powell will officiate.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Angelo Thorn and Amanda Mary Katherine Thorn; brothers, Owen Thorn and Coy Thorn; sisters, Bertha Durham and Ova Mae Sherrill; and son-in-law, Tommy Rich.
Mrs. Choat is survived by her son, Roger Choat and wife, Ruth, of Cherokee; daughter, Evelyn Rich, of Cherokee; grandchildren, Kim Scott and husband, Wayne, of Henderson, Tenn., Stacy Hull and husband, John, of Decatur, Chris Choat, of Madison, Rhonda Hester and husband, Doug, of Cherokee, Melinda McVay and husband, Alan, of Sheffield; great-grandchildren, Katy and Daniel Scott, Joseph Hull, Anna McVay, Adam McVay, Betsy Hester, and Molly Bersky and husband, Bobby.
Pallbearers will be John Hull, Chris Choat, Bobby Bersky, Doug Hester, Alan McVay, and Adam McVay.
