After graduating from Unity High School in 1958, Ralph served with the Army stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
In 1960 he married the former Jean Getchell and they shared nearly 50 years together.
Ralph was employed in law enforcement for many years as a deputy of the Waldo County Sheriff's Office and as a security officer for Unity College.
He was very involved within his community. Over the years he had coached farm league and Little League baseball in Unity, was involved with his daughters in Girl Scouts, worked many years with the Unity Volunteer Ambulance Service, and was a life member of the Unity Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a 42-year member of Star in the West Masonic Lodge No. 85 in Unity, and was well-known for his famous chicken barbecue.
Ralph was also an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing, but the love of his life was his grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his stepfather, Hollon O. Danforth.
Ralph will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Jean; his daughters, Joy Frost and John Talbot of Troy, Lori Myrick and Wayne McKinley Jr. of Skowhegan, and Lisa Myrick of Thorndike; his grandchildren, Corey, Jake, James, Josh, and Jessie; his siblings, Joe Myrick and his wife, Joan, of Unity, Edwin Myrick and Mandy of Clinton, Alice Wren and her husband, Bill, of Thorndike, Larry Myrick and his wife, Donita, of Conyers, Ga., Stephen Myrick and his wife, Cindy of Palmyra, and Dottie Myrick of Conyers; special friends, Maurice and Charlene Call and Claire Getchell; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
