Thomas Edward Burgess
HOUSTON - Thomas Edward Burgess, 78, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a retired customer service representative for Futorian in Okolona. He was a member of the Houston First Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was one of Houston's first full-time firefighters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Houston Funeral Home with the Rev. David Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in Houston Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Rhodes Burgess of Houston; a daughter, Patricia Southerland of Hernando; a son, Rod Burgess and Regina of Brandon; three grandchildren, Tiffany, Deanna and Casey; seven great-grandchildren, Devin, Kayla, Makinzie, Shannon, Macy, Meredith and Memphis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Lee Burgess and Helen Bray Burgess.
Pallbearers will be Bob Hancock, David Rhodes, Kirkham Dendy, Rodney Griggs, Pete Rhodes and Don Huffman.
