Anna Bergstrom Boden, 81, joined her loved ones in Heaven on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, after a long illness with Alzheimer's disease. Funeral services will be held at Roswell United Methodist Church Chapel on Sunday, January 24th; at 2:00 pm. Viewing and visitation with friends and family will be from 1:00-2:00 pm in the Church Parlor. Burial will take place afterwards at Green Lawn Cemetery, Roswell, Georgia, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Lawrence D. "Tony" Boden, Sr.
Anna was born February 12, 1928 in Atlanta, Georgia. Her father, a graphic artist with the Bell Telephone Company, presented her with a tiny red Valentine. Her mother, Catherine ("Mumsy") was a homemaker and provided the home with love and stability. Baby Anna was a Charter Member of the Cradle Roll at the First Baptist Church in Atlanta. She attended E. L. Connelly Grammar School, Brown Junior High, and Brown High. When the family moved, she transferred to Russell High, where she obtained her diploma in 1945. She was a cheerleader, majorette, and a member of the rifle team.
The young Miss Boden had a career with J. P. Allen's Teen Board in downtown Atlanta when she met her future husband Tony. A six-week courtship resulted in a marriage that lasted 53 years. Anna and Tony had two children, Larry and Cathy, and when they were teens, she entered the real estate industry under the brokerage of Sally O. Washburn. Anna had a very successful career in real estate. She was a member of the Million Dollar Club, the Atlanta Board of Realtors, and eventually acquired her broker's license. She chose, however, to remain with Sally Washburn, as they had become dear friends.
She retired from real estate in the early nineties to care for her mother, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Her interests included family, her church, Roswell United Methodist, flower arranging, and traveling. She was a member of the Altar Guild for many years.
Anna is survived by her two children, Lawrence DeMoy (Larry) Boden, Jr., and Mary Catherine (Boden) Moore and their spouses, Lori Sword Boden and Fred L. Moore III; two brothers, John Parks Bergstrom (Carrollton, GA) and Richard O. Bergstrom (Woodstock, GA); five grandchildren, Carrie Nicole Boden, Lawrence DeMoy "Trey" Boden III, Lyndsey Ann Boden, Amanda Catherine Moore, and Fred L. "Buddy" Moore IV; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence DeMoy "Tony" Boden, Sr.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Roswell United Methodist Church Music Ministry (RUMC Music, 814 Mimosa Boulevard, Roswell GA 30075).
