Monica was born in puerto rico to martina and carmelo sanchez on may 4,1947.she was one of 24 children they were blessed with.free-spirited,she soon took over what would be her amazing life.
she began her journey by marring a guy named ambrosio abad, and within 4 years they had begun their family.their first child was ferdinand(known as papo).their second and third were their daughters, maria(known as cuchy)and magda(known as liset).
they moved here with 3 young children and started their new lives.within a few years their 4th and youngest was born, they named him felix(hes known as fil).
they raised their young family with love and a strong determination to teach their children the necessities they would need to survive.
she was a person who could be serious when needed, but also she could be the life of the party.now, dont go thinking that as she got older she slowed down.no way that was gonna happen.at least not to the monin i knew.
the monica i got to know was the complete oppisite of slowing down.i knew her as the one in the miniskirt and heels.(yes, i said miniskirt).to her sons her skirts were a bit short, but to us it meant party time.
this mother of 4 and grandmother of almost 20 could hangout longer than we could.she would be the 1st at the party and the last to leave.i know because id try to keep up with her and was not able to.the whole time she would have a big smile on her face.if there would have been a trophy, she would have had the crown.
but eventually, things come to an end.her illness took its toll on her.we lost her in the early morving hours of january 16,2003.she left this earth in peace, and with a piece of each of us.her eldest son was by her side.
we will never forget that morning, just like we definitely never forget all the things that made who she was.even though we argued alot, she taught me many things that i now pass along to my children,(my girls tend to sometimes act like her).which to me its not bad cause they are her.
she left behind a huge family that still think of her, especially around the holidays.that was when she would cook her best and party her hardest.thats how we remember her.oh,and lets not forget what shed say...
