Flora's parents were Elpedio Parenti and Maria Meliani, both Italian immigrants to Brazil. They went to Brazil to work at the coffee plantations in Sao Paulo, but found themselves as indentured servants. Elpedio escaped, and in the process of freeing other indentured servants, met, freed, and married Maria.
Elpedio, Maria and their first child Cari returned to Europe, living in France for nine years, where Flora and Fio were born. The family returned to Elpedio's birthplace of Calcinaia where Nori was born. When Nori became ill, Maria moved the family to La Spezia, to where Elpedio's brother lived.
Elpedio traveled to the US to work in the mines, and in 1912 the family received news to move to America. Flora, age 12, mother and siblings traveled on Prinzess Irene, then by train to Bingham Utah. Flora's sister Fio was left in the care of her aunt Assunta in Lucca.
By 1914 the family had moved to San Francisco.
She married Dante Novi at age 21. (about 1924)
1930 Census has their family living in San Fransisco, as well as the 1940 census, but it lists their 1935 residence as Hillsburg (possibly Healdsburg in Sonoma County?)
Flora died in 1944 in San Francisco.
