In 1912, when Elpedio summoned the family to join him in Utah, Maria and the children had passage, but upon arriving at the ship, Fio was not allowed to board, as she had an eye infection. She was left with family in France, where she spent her childhood. It was not until years later, 1921, when Elpedio returned to Italy for health reasons that he brought Fio back to America with him.
Fio married Joseph Landucci (2/4/1903-7/17/93), a grocer. They had two children, Alfred and Viola. They had a beautiful home on Seal Rock near the Cliff House in San Francisco. Fio and Joe divorced when the children were in their teens.
When Fio was in her 80's living in a house near city college, a man broke down her door, beat her, and robbed her house. She was sent to the hospital. She lived for several years after the attack, but it was the start of the decline of her health.
