Enlisted: Pvt., Co. E, 18th Georgia Infantry, When: July 26, 1861, Where: Camp McDonald Cobb Co. Ga.. He and his son joined the same day. His son died 7 days later Oct. 1, 1861. Josiah died from Typhoid Fever. Amanda Telford Ballentine wife and mother had the task of filing for claims. She did have an attorney. She did received there pay in service and death pay. She is Buried at New Harmony Methadist Church in Suwanne Co. Florida.
