Hospitalized in Atlanta Hospital at Atlanta Georgia, on 27 Nov 1863 for unspecified cause ( POSSIBLY WIA ) Wounded in Action, Lookout Mtn/Missionary Ridge on 23-25 Nov 1863.
Appointed Ensign 26 Nov 1864 to rank from 28 Oct 1864. However, Regimental " Ensign " was also defined in the Confederate Army as a rank in accordance with a law enacted 17 February 1864 by the Confederate Congress that included a provision that each regimental commander would appoint an ensign [ with the attendant rank of Lieutenant ] as its Regimental Color Bearer, prior to this act, a Sergeant would serve as Color Bearer with the remainder of the Color Guard being composed of eight Corporals, )
Reportedly returned uncaptured from behind Union lines at Bentonville North Carolina, 19 March 1865, Born in Newton Co Georgia.
