Mrs. Fleming had two brothers in the Confederacy - Payton G. Pearson in the Commissionary Department in Florida and Randall Theodore Pearson, a cadet at the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina and was called into service with the cadets and served on the coast of South Carolina.

Mrs. Fleming was a charter member of the Martha Reid 19 Chapter UDC (the oldest chapter in the state of Florida), and was Elected Honorary President of the Florida Division in 1921. She was Vice Regent of the Florida Room at the Confederate Museum in Richmond, Virginia for many years.
