"M. E. EVERLEY. – Marion Evans Everley, son of Reason Howard Everley and Lieurena Morris Everley, was born September 4, 1855 near Rosedale, West Virginia and departed this life April 7, 1929 at Delphos, Kansas.
He was the youngest of eleven children, all of whom, except two, have preceded him to the Great Beyond.
He was united in marriage to Rosa Lee John, August 30, 1874 to which union five children were born: Allen, Millard, Floy, Ray and Frank.
With his wife and son Allen he came to Kansas in March 1876 and settled near Bethel where he lived for almost fourteen years. He then moved near Delphos and has ever since resided in the vicinity.
At an early age he united with the Methodist Episcopal church and his life has been spent in the upbuilding of same. For more than fifty years, he was musical director in the churches of which he was a member. There is probably no man in this vicinity who has been more often called and more willingly responded in time of sickness and bereavement than he.
He lived a true sacrificial, consistent, christain life and his friends are numbers only by his acquaintances.
He was generous to a fault and assistance was never denied.
Our community has lost a pioneer, a good neighbor, a true friend, a loving husband and father. What more can a man be?
Funeral services for Mr. Everley were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. Vielguth in charge and burial was made in the Bethel cemetery."
