OBITUARY FOR:
Attaway, George A.
Age 66. Monday, June 29, 1987, in Shelby County.
Born in Joliet Township; lived in Elwood IL most of his life. He was employed by Uniroyal Inc., retired in 1977. He was a WW II Army veteran, served in the Twelfth Armored Division in the European Theatre, also a member of the Elwood Community Church. Former member of the Elwood School Board and the Elwood Volunteer Fire Department, also member of the Elwood Masonic Lodge #919.
Preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Lila M.; a brother, Robert; a sister, Alma Stufen.
Survived by his wife, Geneva (nee Swindle); two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Cockream of Morris, Betty (Richard) Powers; three children, Shirley (Terry) Weidemann of Elwood, Jerry (Mary Beth) of Plainfield, George (Laura) of Elwood.; three grandchildren, Jeremy, Heather, and Justin Attaway; Also numerous nieces and nephews survive.
Funeral services will be held from the Haley-Tapella Funeral Home, 17 S. Center St, Joliet IL, Thursday, July 2, at 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Visitation will be held Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Rev. James Offrick officiating. Interment Brown Cemetery. Memorials to Elwood Community Church or Elwood Volunteer Fire Department would be appreciated.
