HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Mable Gretchen Sandlin James, 86, of 659 Iron Man Road, Hartselle, will be Friday, at Peck Funeral Home with the Revs. Harold Thompson and Jack Bailey officiating.
Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mrs. James died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 1998, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Feb. 27, 1911 in Morgan County, to Charlie Henry Sandlin and Idella Cobb Sandlin. She was a homemaker and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and a foster grandparent at Neel Elementary School for nine years. She was the widow of Howard James.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Lee James of Hartselle and Edward James of Winter Park, Fla.; two daughters, Helen Ikner of Decatur and Freda Ikner of Hartselle; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ken James, Darryl James, Dean James, Jerald Ikner, Timothy Ikner and Nicholas Chaney.
