Walsh, Florence A., 82, of Linwood, died Monday, October 18, 1999 at her residence. An area resident since 1952, she was previously of National Park and a graduate of Woodbury High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward A. Walsh, Jr. and survived by three sons, Edward A., III of Somers Point, William A. of Pennsville, and Michael J. of Vineland, three daughters, Florence Andrews of Brigantine, Patricia Burke of Boca Raton, Florida, and Mary Walsh of Washington Township; two brothers, Michael Phelps of National Park, and Joseph Phelps of Norwich, Connecticut; two sisters, Margarite Hurry of Hobesound, Florida and Agnes Libscomb of Adelphi, Maryland; 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
On a more personal note, Florence Walsh was my maternal Grandmother. She was a great woman as far as we all were concerned. Smart as a whip right to the end. She had a heart of gold. No one would ever go hungry at her home. Friends of her children were invited to stay if they didn't have a place to go. I was close to my Grandmother. She was very fond of saying that I was more like one of her daughters, rather than her first granddaughter. Grandmom taught me to cook, sew, knit and make the most wonderful flower collages. I was quite ill as a child and she took care of me so my own mother could work. I remember she always made something out of nothing. She could make a game out of the most mundane items and keep children busy for hours. I will always love her and miss her.
