|Birth: ||1727, Germany|
Susanna Dorothea Hamme married John Jacob Hake (Johan Jacob Höck) at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lancaster, PA. Her birth and death dates are not known. An approximate year of birth is given based on the assumption that she was born within a few years of her husband's birth in 1724 and she appears to have died before Jacob's death in 1803 as she was not mentioned in his Will.
She was recorded as a communicant by Rev. Johan Friedrich Handschuh, minister of Trinity Evangelical Church, Lancaster, PA for Nov 27, 1748. Susanna Dorothea (listed together with her sister Maria Barbara) worked for Jacob Erkebrecht as a servant. Marriage records for Trinity Evangelical record that "Johann Jacob Hoeck and Susanna Dorothea Hamin, both single people who came only last fall from Germany and have been in the neighborhood, were married after public proclamation three times in the church after Kinderlehre on Cantate Sunday, April 23, 1749."
Susanna's parents names are not known, but the names of three of her siblings are: John Valentine (1723-1766) whose first wife Anna Catharina was a sister of Susanna's husband John Jacob Hake. Valentine and Catharina had no children before her death in 1751 - just two years after they married. His second wife was Louisa May by whom he had six children. Susanna's next sibling was Maria Barbara (1725-1797) who married George Friedrich Schindel and had 10 children, one of whom, Georg Friedrich, married Gertrude Wintermeier whose mother Anna Philippina was a sister of John Jacob Hake. The third known sibling of Susanna was Johann Daniel Hamm (1728-1794) who married Barbara (1726-1792)and had 8 children.
