Daughter of John H. and Martha Ann (Hailstock) Brooks. Wife of Evander Parish and John Booker. Mother of Esther, Hobart and Celia Parish.
Aged 46 yrs, 11 mos 18 days.
The Quebec Daily Telegraph, 10 June 1891:
"The body of Mrs. Belle Booker, colored, was found yesterday morning at her house in Youngstown, Ohio. Mose Jenny and her husband have been suspected of the murder and have been placed under arrest."
Barrington (IL) Review, 13 June 1891:
"Mrs. Belle Booker, wife of a barber of Youngstown, was found in a coal yard near her home murdered and the victim of a criminal assault, the murderer using a hatchet and cutting her head... Moses Jackne, colored, was arrested on a charge of murder."
Note: Moses Janney, arrested for her murder, must have been cleared, as he was a free man, living in Youngstown in 1900.
