Hi, I am the daughter-in-law of the son of Bessie Ellen Brunson (only child of Newton). She had 2 boys and Clifford Brunson Hunt (born 1924 in Des Moines, IA and now lives in FL) tells the story of when Newton joined the army he was only 17 years old, but he put a paper in his boot with the number 18 on it and "swore he was over 18" to be able to join. Newton was in "Sherman's March to the Sea". He lived in Pulaski which is in Davis County, and his fathter, William, lived in Thornburg when they joined.
Clifford said that "Grandpa had a white beard, mustache, and glasses." His third wife, Elvina, her last name was McClanahan.
