BARKLEY Thomas Jefferson, Jr., 87, departed this life February 25, 2000 to meet his Savior and Lord. Retha, his beloved wife of 65 years, preceded him in death in 1995. After she suffered a massive stroke, he was her caregiver the last 5 years of her life. Tom was always a caregiver to his family. He was born in Armstrong, OK, September 30, 1912 and grew up in Henryetta. He retired from Texaco in 1975 after 35 years of service. His father, Tom, Sr., retired from Texaco in 1941 after 34 years of service. Daddy was a pensioner and proud that the name T.J. Barkley was on the Texaco payroll for 93 consecutive years. Tom was a long time member of the YMCA and had an exercise regimen that he followed 5 days a week up until the day before he went into the hospital. One of his goals was to see the arrival of the new millennium. He was a handsome, vibrant gentleman, whose quiet strength will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Lois of the home; son, Thomas J. Barkley, III of Sapulpa, OK; daughters, Eve O'Kelley of Tulsa, OK and LaDonna Wilson and husband, Eddie of Inola, OK. 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild also survive him. He was a member of Woodlake Assembly of God Church for 32 years. He is in state at the Moore's Eastlawn Chapel. Graveside service 11 a.m., Monday, February 28, 2000 at Rose Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Moore's Memory Chapel.
