Venice L. Collin, 87, of Holdrege died Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services were at 2 p.m. today at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with the Rev. Murray Jones officiating. Burial was at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege. She as born Oct. 6, 1918, in Smith Center, Kan., to Pearlie Chester and Elma Inez (Maddocks) Taylor. She married Faber Forest Fitch in 1933 and was widowed in 1962. In 1976 she married Eric Collin. Survivors include her sons, Norman and Lester of Omaha, Roger of Holdrege, Jerry of Commerce City, Colo., and Charles of Loveland, Colo; daughter Phyllis Bennett of Golden, Colo.; brother, Robert Taylor of Missouri; 19 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
She was a quiet woman who worked as a waitress at the Regal Steakhouse in Holdrege for years. Venice lived up to her name; she was beautiful in body, mind, and spirit.
