Bernice Bradshawa, 94, of Brady died Thursday, Sept. 21 in Austin.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 25 at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Brady with Dr. John Stewart and Dr. Larry Bethune officiating. Burial followed in Live Oak Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Pennington Funeral Home in San Marcos and Leatherwood Memorial Chapels of Brady.

Born Dec. 18, 1905, in Calf Creek to Edward Lafayette and Beneva Elizabeth (Whipple) Bridge, she and her husband, Perry Bradshw, owned and operatged the family farm in McCulloch, Menard and Mason counties, as well as the Brady Motel.

She also worked as the evening hostess at Wilkerson's Funeral Home for many years and as a saleslady at Miller's Clothing Store.

Survivers include two daughters, Dorothy Wingard of Austin and Betty Whitten and husband, Jim, of Brady; five grandchildren, Dale Wingard and wife, Debra, of Sugarland, David Wingard and wife, Dinah Massie, of Houston, James Wingard and wife, Kristin, of San Marcos, Alice whitten of Fort Worth and Amy Knight and husband, John, of Farmington, MN; and nine great-grandchildren, Daniel, Michael and Rachel Wingard of Sugarland, Massie Louis Wingard of Houston, Jonathan Wingard of El Paso, Rico Herrera and wife, Sarah, of Bryan, and Alex, Madeline and Kalley Knight of Farmington, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry, on May 8, 1970; a granddaughter, Sue Ann Wingard; a son-in-law, Louis Wingard; two brothers, Clarence and Luther Bridge; and five sisters, Vernon Cavin, Beulah Walker, Olga Price, Cleo Duncan and Gladys Wood.

Calf Creek, Texas where Bernice was born is a small community in southern McCulloch Co., Texas on Farm Road 1311 appx. 15 miles SW of Brady. Her parents are buried in the Calf Creek Cemetery there.
