James Jones was the son of David & Esther (Morgan) Jones.

During the Revolution James was too old to serve in the militia. So on 24 Sep 1777 James signed the Oath of Fidelity to the United States.

On 29 Jan 1783 James wrote his will. The signature shown on this memorial is from that will. In James will he names:

Sons Abel, Daniel, Enoch, & James
Daughters: Mary Griffith, Jane Buckenham, Hannah Shields, Ester Jones, Sussanah James & Margaret (Menough).

James & Sussannah stayed in Pencader Hundred, New Castle Co, DE until they died.

An early Morgan-Jones history states that James & Susannah are buried in the Welsh Tract Church Cemetery. Today there are no markers for them, yet next to James' parents graves where many Jones are buried there are grave sites with no markers.
