Mary Ann Aubrecht was the daughter of Vaclav & Marie (Papez) Aubrecht.
Mary had 7 siblings, Anna, Katherina, Julia (Milbauer), Frantisek, Carl, Alzbeta (Horejsi) & Anna (Kelinger). She was the only one of her immediate family that is know to leave Bohemia for America.
In 1881 Mary married Joseph Carda in a Catholic church in Strakonice, Bohemia (present day Czech).
In 1887 the couple left Bohemia for Detroit, MI.
Mary and Joseph had 8 children. Six of them lived to be adults, Mary Ann, Carl, Barbara, Joesph, George, Elizabeth and Olga.
Her husband Joseph was killed in a wagon accident while he was delivering bread in 1897.
Mary who was 40, pregnant and her oldest Mary was only 12. The family pulled together, moved to a smaller house, (which stayed in the family into the 1960s) and things worked out. The children delivered papers and did what ever they could.
Mary gave them much love and attention and the family stayed together.
