Harriet Emmers, 98, of Hudson,
South Dakota, formerly of
Hawarden, died Sunday, March
14, 1999 at Colonial Manor Nursing
Home in Hudson.
Services were at 10:30 a.m.
Thursday at Porter-Dow Funeral
Home in Hawarden with the Rev.
Dean Shelly of Hawarden United
Methodist Church officiating.
Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Emmers was born October
19. 1900, near Alcester,
South Dakota, the daughter of
Harry and Caroline (Schadt)
Collins. She married William
Emmers January 11, 1923, in
Fresno, California. The couple
lived in Hawarden. He died September
14, 1975. She entered
Colonial Manor in July 1988.
She enjoyed gardening and
crocheting.
Survivors include a daughter
and her husband, Violet and
Creighton Wegner of Hawarden;
a brother, Lionel Collins of Crowley,
Texas; five grandchildren;
eight great-grandchildren; and
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by
a son, Will; a daughter-in-law,
Lois; and a granddaughter, Carol
Breugem.
