|Death: ||Feb. 18, 1908|
According to the local newspaper, her name was Luella Karr, an African American child born about 1899 in Colorado. According to newspaper stories about her death, her (unnamed) mother died in about 1902. She came to live with her aunts Edna Harriet Karr Gooden and Beatrice Karr Thompson, daughters of Thomas Karr and Mary Cowan. Attended Lincoln School. Died from diphtheria.
In the 1900 census of Gunnison County, Colorado, two children, Harlow and Ann, are living with the Thomas Karr family in Colorado as nephew and niece. Harlow was the son of Ellis Karr and Alvie. Ann is the right age to be Luella and Harlow also came to Idaho. It's possible that Ann and Luella are the same person. Ann doesn't appear in any further census records, but this family is missed in many census records. Harlow again appears in the 1910 census with his now-widowed aunt, but little Ann is gone. If this is the case, then Luella would also be the child of Ellis Karr and Alvie Cowan. However, her death record give her name as Dorothee S, daughter of Thomas and Mary Karr.
Another of her cousins was Bruce Karr.
