Johann George Lough, a son of Johan Peter and Elizabeth (Bollman) Lough, was born in Berks County, PA about 1755 and died in Randolph County VA (WV) February 25, 1818. He married Mary Magdlaene Siehl in Reading, PA May 25, 1782.

George served in the Second Regiment of the PA Line from 1779 to 1783 and was a Lieutenant in the Lower South Branch of the Pendleton County VA militia in 1788.

George and his brother, John Adam Lough, moved to Pendleton County VA and patented land on Switser Gap Run in 1786. They sold their land there in 1810 and moved to Hacker`s Lick in present day Webster County WV.
