COURIER JOURNAL OBITUARY - 12/19/2007
BINDER - Francis S. "Skip", 74, of Louisville, passed into eternal life on Monday, December 17, 2007. Skip was a 1950 graduate of Flaget High School and was on their first state football championship team. He graduated from the University of Detroit, then received further degrees from Spalding University, WKU and U of L. Skip was a devoted Christian, family man and educator. He worked in an educational setting for 40 years with Jefferson County Public Schools, retiring as a school counselor from Lassiter Middle School. He was a dedicated volunteer for St. Vincent dePaul, 4H, Holy Rosary Academy and many others. Skip was also a Dominican Associate. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Ella Mae Binder. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Wanita Wolfe; two children, Timothy (Marcie) and Susan Hoffman (Todd); and two adoring grandchildren, Gavin Binder and Matco Hoffman. He is also survived by three sisters, Alice Dearing of Frankfort, KY, Mary Jane Patterson of Mobile, AL and Sharon Carpenter of Louisville; two sisters-in-law, Mary Rose Wolfe and Dorothy Wolfe; 17 nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends, including Tom Wolfe, who helped care for him. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 6901 Dixie Hwy., with burial at St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at Keenan's Funeral Home, 4724 Dixie Hwy. (at Rockford Ln.) Memorial gifts: St. Vincent DePaul St. Paul Conference, 6901 Dixie Hwy. or Dominican Sisters of KY, 2645 Bardstown Road, St. Catharine, KY or Little Sisters of the Poor, 15 Audubon Plaza Drive.
