Sgt Damion Garland Osualdo Campbell

Staff Sgt. Damion G. Campbell of Baltimore, Maryland was born a son of Yandell Campbell and Donna Robinson. From birth, Damion was a very special child who came to live in the United States with his mother at the age of seven. He attended Liberty Elementary School, then Garrison Junior High School, then on to Forest Park High School in Baltimore, Md. At an early age he showed great passion for the military life. At the age of eight he became a member of the Boy Scouts, after the Boy Scouts while attending Forest Park High School, he took up lacrosse as his interest in sports. He then joined the Junior R.O.T.C. at Forest Park for four years, during which time he received a number of medals and trophies. Damion was in the graduating class of 2000. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Army in which he served for five years. During these five years Damion accomplished up and above his years and time in the service. He was fun-loving and happy, touching the life of each and everyone he met in a very special way. Damion leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Donna; father, Yandell; grandparents, Oswald and Olga; brothers, Paul and Nicholas; sisters, Yandeen and Racheal and a host of other relatives and friends. Damion had not been home for nearly a year. He was planning to go to Jamaica for a couple of weeks in August, but it didn't work out. Damion died in Khayr Kot, Afghanistan, where an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during a combat patrol. He was 23.
