He was the son of Wesley D. and Jimmie M. Cameron Quinn. As a child his family moved to McAlester, where he graduated from McAlester High School and later attended college. On March 5, 1947, he entered the National Guard before enlisting in the United States Army on Oct. 11, 1948. During his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Japan Occupational Medal and a Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars before receiving his honorable discharge on June 25, 1956, at Fort Polk, La., with the rank of SP-2. He married Margaret Turnbow on Oct. 1, 1957, in Atoka. He later entered the United States Air Force on Nov. 4, 1957, in Oklahoma City. During his service he earned the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship ribbon, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity service award with three bronze oak leaf clusters and the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star. He retired at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kan. on March 1, 1970, as a jet engine technician with more than 20 years of military service at the rank of technical sergeant. In 1970 he and his wife returned to McAlester where he worked for Southwestern Bell until his retirement in 1992. He was an avid carpenter, enjoyed gardening and landscaping and was of the Baptist faith. He died at his home at the age of 75. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Quinn, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Keelye and Joey Scrivner, of McAlester; a son and daughter-in-law, Kasy and Sheila Quinn, of Tulsa. Also, a grandson, Tyler Brent Quinn, of the home; granddaughters, Miranda Stubbs, of Tulsa, and Sarah Quinn, of Tulsa. And, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy Quinn, of McAlester, Max and Neotha Quinn, of McAlester, and John and Mary Hernandez, of Haywood. And, four sisters-in-law, Irene Roth, of McAlester, Bea Hailey, of McAlester, Lois Nyhart, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Ramona Quinn, of McAlester. And, a brother-in-law and spouse, Charles and Terry Turnbow, of Enid; a cousin, Alice Langham, of McAlester, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mark Leavitt, Raleigh Leavitt, Burt Thomas, Gerald Branam, Alisa Eaton, Lesley Mellen and Rob Clements. Honorary pallbearers will be Rudy Hernandez, Joe Contreras, Ken Curtis, James Steidley, Noah Rains, Gene Brewster and Shorty Repass. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Jimmie Quinn; a son, Wesley Kevin Quinn in 1967; a sister, Mildred Quinn, and his stepfather, Linzel Hernandez. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Marvin Dunn officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery with full military honors by the Fort Sill Honor Guard. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
