Robert Aldine Davis, in his first year as President of Brevard College, has virtually enchanted the campus with his sparkling personality. In the cafeteria, in the hallways, or on the campus lawn, President Davis never hesitated to meet students with a friendly handshake and inquiry into their well-being as a student at Brevard. His concern for each individual was always apparent in the emotional strength of his friendly countenance. Also, he has invariably enhanced the trust and friendship of the faculty members and students alike with his determined and vigorous attitude toward the progress of Brevard College. His congenial disposition combined with his aggressive leadership qualities have undoubtedly been the key to his success as an educational administrator.

President Davis can boast extensive accomplishments as a scholar in preparation for his administrative career. He graduated from South Georgia Junior College, and received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Georgia in 1949. In 1952, he earned the Bachelor of Divinity degree from Emory University and in 1959 received the master's degree in Sacred Theology from Yale University.

After graduating from Emory he became Director of the Wesley Foundation at Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Virginia. Following his graduate study at Yale, he was Director of the Wesley Foundation at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. In 1962 he left Georgia for Nashville, Tennessee where he was the Associate Director of the Division of Higher Education of the United Methodist Church. Finally in 1969, he turned his sights to Brevard, North Carolina and assumed the task of President of Brevard College.

Several significant honors have already come to Mr. Davis. In 1957, in the course of his Director's job at the Wesley Foundation in Blacksburg, Virginia he was chosen as Outstanding Young Man of the Year by the Jaycees. Also his Master's Degree from Yale University was accomplished as a Danforth Scholar. Of course, it is said that behind every successful man stands a woman slightly in the shadow.
President Davis' inspiration has been the former Phyllis Clough of Douglas, Georgia. Mrs. Davis is a magna cum laude graduate of Wesleyan College. The President and his wife have three smaller inspirations in Robert Aldine Davis, III, Phyllis Blaine Davis Schultz, and Palmer Clough Davis.
