Son of Walter Bean and Elizabeth McGaillard b1780 NC d1838 Waltonville, IL. After her death Walter married Catherine Kimbro.

Asbury married Susan Angeline Spearman. They had at 5 known children (likely many more):

Asbury enlisted 26 Dec 1861 as private, Co.B, Illinois 60th Infantry Reg. He achieved the rank of Sergeant according to American Civil War Soldiers records. He died as a result of battle wounds.
