Madison moved with his wife and children from Greene County, TN to Cushman, Independence County, AR in April of 1882. He owned 160 acres of land that he acquired through the Homestead Act where he raised cattle. He also owned Falls' Blacksmith Shop in Cushman until he retired in the early 1920's.
Several of Madison's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are buried in Pleasant Valley Cemetery as well as other cemeteries in Independence County, AR. Both of his wives are also buried in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
