Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Afton Ernstsen Anderson, age 79, of Aurora, passed away on July 24, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Before moving to Aurora, she resided at 2440 West Greenleaf Avenue in Anaheim, California.

She was born January 13, 1929 in Aurora, Utah, a daughter of Hyrum Alton and Della Dean Shaw Ernstsen. She married Douglas Neil Anderson (my 4th cousin) on September 5, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on December 9, 1955. They lived in Aurora at the corner of 200 South and 200 East from 1947 to 1962. Doug passed away on June 10, 2003. Afton and Doug spent 28 years living in Anaheim, California, beginning in 1962 and after retiring in 1990, they returned to Aurora, the home they never emotionally left while in California.

She is loved and will be missed by her children: Courtney V. and Sharon Anderson, Sheldon H. and Laura Anderson, Sherman K. and JoAnn Anderson, Clay Barry and Donna Anderson, all of California; Neil D. and Robin Anderson of Aurora; Shadara and Brian Arn of Kaysville. She leaves 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and is survived by two brothers and one sister: Terral and Michelle Ernstsen of Texas; Janna Hansen and Foy Ernstsen, both of Ogden. She is greeted in death by her husband, Doug; a son, Gardell Anderson and her parents.

Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the Aurora First Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 85 North Main Street in Aurora, Utah. Friends attended a Viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home located at 150 East Main Street in Salina, Utah on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday morning at the Church in Aurora from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM prior to the services.
Afton was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Funeral Services at the Aurora City Cemetery beside her beloved husband.
REST IN PEACE.
