Husband of Ethelyn Olive Bates Barnett. They met in Los Angeles, California, where they married on May 1, 1930. Their marriage was solemnized on March 28, 1933 in the Mesa, Arizona, LDS Temple. They lived in Southern California until his retirement, when they moved to Washington, Utah, and finally to Cedar Fort, Utah. They had four children.
Obituary from the Salt Lake City, Utah, "Deseret News" newspaper dated Wednesday, April 15, 1998:
Our beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Dan Barnett, age 89, passed away April 13, 1998 in Cedar Fort, Utah.
He was born May 1, 1909 in Smithfield, Utah, the son of George Thomas and Phebie Mae Coleman Barnett. Married Ethelyn Olive Bates on May 1, 1930, in Los Angeles and lived in southern California. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he was a great Scout Master. He loved the outdoors and wanted to be a forest ranger. He had a green thumb and grew beautiful gardens and was also an avid gemologist. He will be missed by his grand and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of Cedar Fort; sons, LBB, PDB, daughters, LKB, DRF, 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 17, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Cedar Fort LDS Chapel. Friends may call at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, Thursday evening 6-8 p.m. and Friday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Cedar Fort City Cemetery.
