Obituary from the Tooele County, Utah, "Deseret News" newspaper dated Friday, January 18, 2002:
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Ethelyn Olive Bates Barnett, age 91, passed away Jan. 17, 2002, in Provo, Utah.
She was born April 22, 1910, in Raymond, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Clarence and Luella Ruth Anderson Bates. Her family moved to the Los Angeles area where she met and married Daniel Coleman Barnett on May 1, 1930; solemnized March 28, 1933, in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple. They lived in Southern California until Dan's retirement when they then moved to Washington, Utah, then Alpine, and Cedar Fort, Utah.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she played the piano and was secretary for the Young Women's program. She was a member of the Daughter of Utah Pioneers and secretary while living in Alpine. Her greatest love was doing genealogy research, visiting relatives, and taking care of her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; grandson, Mark D. Fitt; granddaughter, Amber Dawn Siufanua. Survived by her four children; LBB (A), PDB (B), LKB, DRS, 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at 1 p.m. in the Cedar Fort LDS Chapel where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment, Cedar Fort City Cemetery under the direction of Wing Mortuary, Lehi.
