On Tuesday died here well prepared with the last rites, Mrs. Clara Cornely. Her children, grandchildren and relatives came to the funeral from near and far away. Catholics of the parish also attended.
Clara Cornely, born Krell, was a good catholic woman, loved and respected by all. She was born on July 25, 1818 in Habergy, Canton Messancy, Belgium and reached the beautiful age of 71 years. She came with her first husband Heinrich Kemp in the year 1845 to Tiffin, Ohio.
On Frohnleichnamstag (church holiday) in 1849 her husband while hitching the horse to attend the possession 9 miles away in New Riegel, he was kicked in the chest by the horse and died.
Married again with John B. Cornely in the year 1853, they came in the year 1856 to St. Donatus, Iowa and 1864 to Brownsville, Minn., where they managed the most popular hotel there.
The deceased lived here in Caledonia since 1873. She is being mourned by her husband, her son, two daughters and a grandson.
