Mr. Julian Buford (Porter) Gilmer, age 83, died Saturday, June 7, 1986 of heart failure at Grady Memorial Hospital. Mr. Gilmer was born in Oglethorpe County, a son of the late William Alford and Henrietta Bolton Gilmer. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and he was a retired Merita bakery employee.
He was survived by his widow Mrs. Irene Davis Gilmer; a step-daughter, Gloria-Rosita Elstan of Jonesboro, two step-sons, John W. Elston and Edward F. Elstan of Jonesboro, a sister , Mrs. Irma Elrod of Winterville.
Graveside services will be at Sweetwater Chapel Cemetery, Pleasant Hill Road in Lawrenceville, Monday, June 9, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jimmy Gilmer officiating.
The family will receive friends at H.L. Carmichael & Sons Funeral Home, East Point, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today.
