Gordon Christopherson, 82, Ridgeland, Wis., died Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Care Partners Assisted Living, Rice Lake.

He was born May 13, 1924, to Henry and Pauline (Peterson) Christopherson on the family farm in rural Ridgeland. He attended and graduated from Blairmoore School and worked as a farmhand until 1941, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served during WWII and earned several medals including the Bronze Star for meritorious service. He received an honorable discharge in 1946 and returned to the Ridgeland area.

On May 29, 1948, he married Adeline Peterson at Sand Creek. They farmed in the Town of Wilson, Dunn County, until retiring in 1984.

Gordon was a longtime member of New Hope-Pine Creek Lutheran Church, Town of Wilson.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. His family, friends, church and neighbors will sadly miss him.

Surviving are daughters, Debra (Dennis) Hamman of Rice Lake and Fay (Gary) Reinikainen of Prairie Farm; sons, Dean (Jill) of Roseville, Minn., Lon (Nancy) of Ridgeland, James (Peggy) of Unity and Paul (Bridget) of Marshfield; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Pearl (Jalmer) Pederstuen, Vivian Lundequam, Nina (Elwood) Donaldson, Muriel Delap, Ethel Lien, Mary Lou Puls and Betty Malcom; a brother, Richard (Ruby); brothers-in-law, Harold Clemetson and Edsel (Maggie) Peterson; sisters-in-law, Norma Christopherson, Wanda (Don) West, Joan Peterson, Doris Gilles and Vivian Peterson; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Aug. 25, 1997; a son, Thomas; a great-grandson, Austin Hagen; sisters, Hazel and Joyce Christopherson, Hilda Knutson and Evelyn Clemetson; and a brother, William.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, from New Hope-Pine Creek Lutheran Church, rural Ridgeland, with Rev. Barbara Koch officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery with military honors accorded by Willard Hinzman American Legion Post 511 of Ridgeland.

Visitation was held 4-8 p.m. Tuesday from Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home, Dallas, and an hour prior to services at the church Wednesday. [Obtained 23 Mar 2006 online from news-shield.com.]
