LT. COL. ROBERTO ANAYA USAFC Ret passed away on Friday, January 9, 2009 at the age of 92. Mr. Anaya retired from the United States Air Force after 24 years of service and was a veteran of WWII, Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving wife Esther D. Anaya, sons; Robert D. Anaya, Raoul A. Anaya, Daniel V. Anaya, daughter Rebecca E. Herrera. He is also survived by his granddaughter Ann Marie Yalcin and husband Erik Yalcin. After his military career, Mr. Anaya worked in the EPISD for 15 years as a teacher at Coronado High School and later as a counselor at both Jefferson and Austin High Schools. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home West. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 400 W. Sunset Dr. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N. Resler Dr., El Paso, TX 79912.
