DEATH NOTICE: The Manti Messenger, Thursday 29 September 1904:
W. B. Allen, to acquaintances known as "Billy" Allen, for years a resident of Mt. Pleasant, took his own life in Park City Tuesday evening. The deed was committed at his home in Woodside canyon by taking thirty grains of cyanide of potassium and in the presence of his brother-in-law and little son. Up to a month ago Allen had been employed as a blacksmith at the Silver King mine, and it is thought that despondency over the loss of his position and ill health was the cause of his act. A brother-in-law saw him take the drug and tried to prevent him, but before he could succeed Allen had swallowed the deadly dose. A doctor was summoned, but long before he arrived at the Allen home the man was dead. – Pyramid.
