Edwin was an Elkhart area farmer and electrical contractor. He was also active in local politics and served one term on the Elkhart City Council. He married Cora Belle Hastings in 1942 in Milford, Indiana. A veteran of WWII, he was a Private in the 1060th Army Air Force Base Unit, from May 1945 to May 1946. Edwin and Cora had five children.
