James was born as Jacobus to Jurian Westfall and Styntje (Christina) Kuykendall. He was christened (C:) by a circuit rider from the Kingston Dutch Church on February 8, 1713. He wed Sophia Van Auken in the Minisink Church on May 7, 1738. They had:

1) Christina, C: on Dec 10, 1738
2) Petrus(Peter), C: on Jun 15, 1740
3) Rushe(Rosina) on Feb 13, 1742

Wife Christina died in 1749 and James wed Jannetje Decker at the Walpeck Dutch Church on February 26, 1751. They had:

1) Levy, C: Jul 19, 1752
2) Joseph, C: Feb 12, 1758
3) Elizabeth, C: Nov 10, 1761
4) Abraham, C: Jan 9, 1763
5) Sara, C: Jan 9, 1763
6) Elisa, C: Oct 17, 1773

James is buried in an unmarked grave in the Minisink Cemetery, which was established by the Kingston Reformed Dutch Church in 1741. It is now part of the Delaware River Water National Park and only a few grave stones remain.
