Birth: 1824
Surry County
North Carolina, USA
Death: 1895
Norwood
Wright County
Missouri, USA

Buried in unmarked grave possibly next to his daughter Narcissa Isabelle (Caudle) Jarrett.

From W. Loy Frisk Simmons:

George Annual Caudle was born about 1824 in Surry County, North Carolina to William and Gracie Broadway Caudle. His parents had 7 children, two died as infants. When his mother died his father married Nancy Brown and they had 10 children. This meant George had 14 siblings!

He married to Elizabeth Frances Head on 26 Oct 1851 in Flint Hill, Yadkin County, North Carolina. To this union 10 known children were born.

Upon arriving in Missouri he wanted land, so put an application for homestead dated 9 Dec 1869. He then had a land patent: Land Patent F.E. 3080 - sec 6 T28N R13W on 30 Dec 1876 in Wright County, Missouri. He made settlement on this land on 12 Apr 1869. By 1876, he had been living here 7 years with his wife and 8 children. He had built a house of 'hewed logs 16x20 feet, plank floor, board roof, 1 door, 1 window, stucco and clay chimney and was a comfortable house to live in". He also had 35 acres under cultivation, had built a 10x18 stable, and planted about 100 fruit trees. At some time, he left his land and moved his family to Howell County, Missouri. He returned to his farm north of Norwood several years before his death.

He died in 1895 in Norwood, Wright County, Missouri. He was buried in the Thomas Cemetery, Norwood, Wright Co, Missouri and has no stone.

Funny info from a letter his nephew wrote in early 1960's: Elem J Caudle writes: "I remember my father telling about Uncle George working in an ore mine in the time of the Civil War. They came and arrested him on his way home one day to take to the war, and found him clad in rags and tatters, all dirty (not knowing about his job) took pity on him, gave him a suit of clothes and turned him loose, so he did not go to the army. He left Yadkin Co, North Carolina and moved to Wright County, Missouri in 1869."
