Joshua married Nancy Lee Fine in Missouri in May of 1860. She is the daughter of Abraham B. and Mary S. (Harrelson) Fine.
They had six children: James Henry, John M., Charles WIlliam, Katherine Ellen, Frank Richard and Mary Annis.
Thanks to Lucy (Miller) Dodd, we have the following story:
While Uncle Josh was living east of South Fork School,, his children were going to school there. One day when he was about to set out to fetch them, it was raining hard, so he took the oil cloth off the dining table and cut a hole in the middle and put it on like a poncho. He rode home with the children all tucked under the oil cloth. As he set it back in place on the table, he said, "It's not much worse for the wear and tear." I'd personaly like to know if Nancy felt the same.
Also thanks to Lucy (Miller) Dodd:
Aunt Nancy had gone on a trip to visit her family and while gone Uncle Josh had shaved himself clean. In telling the story, she added, "I was only gone two weeks and Joshua had shaved. Set out again!"
