Derensellear R. Booth was the son of William Cissaro Booth and Missouri Bullard. He was born in Autauga County, AL c. 1844. Derensellear married Alabama Lavinia Dees on September 2, 1873 in Columbia County, AR. Derensellear and Alabama had four children...Espy, Ira Travis, Dee R., and Machen Daniel Booth.
Derensellear R. Booth served in Co. G, 3rd Arkansas Infantry during the Civil War. He fought with Hood's Texas Brigade and was at the Battle of Gettysburg where he saw action at Devil's Den. General Robert E. Lee considered Hood's Texas Brigade to be his finest fighting unit. Derensellear was wounded in his right arm at Chickamauga, Georgia, September 20, 1863 and retired to Invalid Corps, August 12, 1864.
